On June 25th, we held a very special evening at the Sant Pau Modernist Site to mark the 3rd Jané Mateu Foundation Scholarship and Award Ceremony.

The event brought together researchers, representatives from the scientific and healthcare fields, board members and collaborators for a night that combined emotion, recognition and a strong commitment to biomedical research.

After the official welcome, Mr. Juan Jané Mateu, President of the Foundation, highlighted the legacy of the organisation, its dedicated, honest and efficient management model, and the involvement of all the people who make this project possible, with the strong backing of STE Group.

The welcome was followed by speeches from board members Mr. José Soria, Dr. Núria Pardo and Dr. José Luis Lirio, who underlined the essential role of private foundations in driving science forward and praised the effort and dedication of this year’s scholarship holders and our annual award recipient.

The ceremony continued with the presentation of the six research projects awarded this year, including a new dermatology grant in memory of board member Dr. Javier Sierra.

One of the most moving moments of the evening was the presentation of the Jané Mateu Foundation Award 2025 to Dr. Javier Cortés Castán, an international leader in medical oncology and founder of the Fundación Contigo Contra el Cáncer de la Mujer. His speech, clear and heartfelt, emphasised the need to keep promoting a more human, technology-driven medicine focused on people.

The evening concluded with a cocktail reception at the Hypostyle Hall, in a warm atmosphere that reaffirmed our mission: to serve knowledge, people and society.

Thank you to everyone who joined us to share this special night.
