We Celebrated the 3rd Jané Mateu Foundation Scholarship and Award Ceremony

On June 25th, we celebrated a very special evening at the Sant Pau Modernist Complex, marking the 3rd Jané Mateu Foundation Scholarship and Award Ceremony.

The event brought together researchers, representatives from the scientific and healthcare fields, members of the board of trustees, and collaborators for a day that combined emotion, recognition, and commitment to biomedical research.

Following the official welcome, Mr. Juan Jané Mateu, President of the Foundation, highlighted the organization’s legacy, its model of committed, honest, and efficient management, and the dedication of everyone who makes this project possible, with the unwavering support of the STE Group.

The speeches by trustees José Soria, Dr. Núria Pardo, and Dr. Lirio followed, emphasizing the essential role of private foundations in promoting science. They introduced and highlighted the effort and dedication of the scholarship recipients and the recipients of our annual award.

The ceremony continued with the presentation of the six research projects receiving scholarships this year, including a new scholarship in dermatology in memory of trustee Dr. Javier Sierra, who passed away earlier this year.

One of the most moving moments was the presentation of the 2025 Jané Mateu Foundation Award to Dr. Javier Cortés Castán, an international leader in medical oncology and founder of the Contigo Contra el Cáncer de la Mujer (With You Against Women’s Cancer Foundation). His heartfelt and committed speech underscored the need to continue striving for a more humane, technologically advanced medicine that serves people.

The day concluded with a cocktail reception in the Hypostyle Hall, in a welcoming atmosphere that reaffirmed our mission: to serve knowledge, people, and society.

Thank you to all attendees for sharing this evening with us.
